How many animals are raised on factory farms?

In 2018 Compassion in World Farming undertook a comprehensive review to ascertain how many animals were being raised in factory farms.

Examination of farming practices for meat chickens, laying hens, dairy cows, and pigs found that the number of factory farms in 2018 was around 800. This number is expected to have grown since then.
